Use Familiar Models
Familiar conceptual models are powerful aids in user-interface design. A
conceptual model enables users to apply knowledge gained from experience toward
understanding the structure and use of the application. For example, an Address
application modeled after a typical paper-based address book would allow users to
apply their understanding of address books to the new application.
